Hi,

I want to migrate an existing addon domain that uses Wordpress to become a primary domain at a new web host.

I will be following these instructions:

1. Back up my site files
2. Export my database
3. Create the new database at the new host
4. Import the earlier database
5. Edit the wp-config.php file to include the database info created in Step 3
6. Upload my site files
7. Change the nameservers

Is that it? I somehow feel that I will need to make other changes regarding the directory paths or folders etc. because I will be transferring an addon to become a primary.

Thanks and regards.

There is now a built-in function in whm for this.

This tutorial is helpful. But, it is only for within server changes. However, thread starter wants to move to his addon domain to new host/server.

You can use WordPress Plugin for migration it very easy to use.

Plugin Name: Duplicator – WordPress Migration Plugin

You can also convert the Addon domain to a cPanel account using the command line.
$ whmapi1 convert_addon_initiate_conversion domain=example.com user=example

You may need to update any references to the old domain in your WordPress settings and plugins to reflect the new primary domain.
